Evolv28 is a daytime wearable that uses patented VCMF™ (Variable Complex Magnetic Fields) technology to calm your nervous system during the day — so you arrive at bedtime neurologically ready to sleep. It's a cervical neckband worn around the neck, designed to look and feel like a lightweight headphone collar. No contact, no electrodes, no sensation. You wear it during your normal day and sleep better that night.
Evolv28 looks like a neckband or open-collar headphone — a smooth, lightweight band that rests at the base of your neck. It weighs almost nothing and produces no sensation: no vibration, no heat, no electrical feeling. Most users forget they're wearing it within the first few minutes. It's designed to disappear into your day, not call attention to itself.
The minimum effective protocol is 4 hours per day for 28 days. This is the Evolv28 protocol — the same duration used in the published clinical trial. Many users wear it longer, and some see effects faster. The 28-day mark is the minimum threshold for meaningful evaluation. Wearing it more than 4 hours per day does not appear to cause any harm and may accelerate results.
Yes. Evolv28 is designed for everyday daytime use. Users wear it at their desk, during calls, while cooking, driving (as a passenger), walking, and exercising. Because it produces no sensation and requires no interaction, it integrates invisibly into your existing routine. The only activity where positioning matters: exercises that compress the neckband (e.g., certain yoga inversions) — simply repositioning it after is fine.
No. Evolv28 produces no sound, vibration, heat, or sensation of any kind. The magnetic field it emits is at ultra-low intensity — below the threshold of human sensory detection. The device is completely silent and undetectable in use.
Does It Work?
A published, peer-reviewed, placebo-controlled randomized controlled trial (RCT) demonstrated the following results for Evolv28 users vs. the sham-control group:
~7.2 point ISI reduction (clinically significant threshold is ≥6 points) +45 minutes average sleep time gain per night ~20 minutes faster sleep onset 20% full remission on the Insomnia Severity Index Zero major adverse events
The trial is published at PubMed PMC10307909. We encourage you to read it directly.
Results vary between individuals depending on insomnia type, severity, and adherence. In the published trial, the average gain was +45 minutes per night. Real-world users have reported significantly larger gains — Valerie Cartonio gained +2 hours 22 minutes per night after a lifetime of insomnia.
Our honest expectation: if you wear Evolv28 consistently for 28 days (4+ hours/day), most users report meaningful change. "Meaningful" means something you notice — not just a data point, but waking up feeling different. 80%+ of early users report this.
Users report first changes anywhere from day 3 to week 4. Some users notice something within the first few nights (Fredrik Regnell noticed a change by week 3). Others take longer. The 28-day protocol is the minimum for a meaningful evaluation — we don't expect you to judge it in a week. If you reach day 28 without any change, you can return the device.
Evolv28 is designed for insomnia driven by cortical hyperarousal — a chronically overactivated nervous system. This is the most common neurological mechanism underlying insomnia, and it manifests as: difficulty falling asleep, waking in the middle of the night with an active mind, early morning waking, and feeling tired-but-wired.
It is not designed for insomnia caused by sleep apnea (a mechanical obstruction), restless leg syndrome, or acute situational insomnia (jet lag, a stressful week). If you've had insomnia for months or years and nothing has worked, hyperarousal is very likely involved.
Return it. The Evolv28 protocol is 28 days. If you complete the protocol — wearing the device 4+ hours per day for 28 consecutive days — and don't see meaningful improvement, you can return the device for a full refund. We only ask that you actually completed the protocol. We're not interested in keeping your money if the device didn't work for you.
Safety
Yes. Evolv28 operates at less than 1 μTesla — weaker than the ambient magnetic field of your phone and well below ICNIRP international safety guidelines. Over 18,000 hours of cumulative device use with zero major adverse events. The device has been wellness-cleared in four markets: the United States, European Union, Canada, and India.
Standard contraindications: not for use with a pacemaker or implanted electronic device; not recommended during pregnancy; consult your physician if you have a history of seizures.
No. Evolv28 is contraindicated for use with pacemakers and other implanted electronic devices. Even at ultra-low intensity, magnetic fields can interfere with implanted electronics.
⚠ Hard contraindication. Do not use Evolv28 if you have a pacemaker, implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), cochlear implant, or any other implanted electronic medical device. Consult your physician.
We do not recommend using Evolv28 during pregnancy. There are no known safety incidents, but there is no clinical data for use during pregnancy, and out of an abundance of caution we include this as a contraindication. Consult your physician.
No. Evolv28 emits a static variable magnetic field — not electromagnetic radiation (EMF in the harmful sense), not radio frequency, not ionizing radiation. Magnetic fields at this intensity level are not classified as radiation under any regulatory framework. The field is similar in nature to the Earth's own magnetic field, just targeted and variable.
Zero major adverse events across 18,000+ hours of use and the published clinical trial. A small number of users have reported mild initial grogginess or a slight heaviness in the first few days — which we interpret as the nervous system beginning to downregulate. These reports have resolved on their own within the first week. No serious or lasting side effects have been reported.
The Science
VCMF™ stands for Variable Complex Magnetic Fields. It is Evolv28's patented signal architecture — the specific pattern, frequency range (8–30 Hz), and variable structure of the magnetic field emitted by the device. The key innovation is variability: the signal never repeats. Because the brain cannot predict or adapt to the pattern, it cannot habituate and tune it out. Every session is neurologically novel. This is what separates VCMF™ from static magnetic devices, which the brain adapts to and ignores.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) uses very high-intensity magnetic fields — typically 1–2 Tesla — to directly stimulate or suppress neurons. It requires clinical infrastructure, costs $6,000–$12,000 per course, and is administered by a clinician. It works, but it cannot scale.
Evolv28 operates at <1 μTesla — a million times weaker than TMS. At this intensity, the mechanism is not direct neurostimulation but rather a gentle modulation of the brain's ambient electrical environment. Think of it as the difference between a spotlight and diffused light filling a room. Both do something. The physics and clinical applications are entirely different.
Because insomnia is a daytime problem. The hyperarousal state that makes sleep impossible builds throughout the day — driven by stress, digital overload, and a nervous system that never fully downregulates. By the time you get into bed, the brain has been "on" for 16 hours and can't switch off.
Evolv28 treats the cause during the day, not the symptom at night. You arrive at bedtime already neurologically prepared for sleep — not trying to force your brain into a state it never built toward. This is the fundamental reframe.
Hyperarousal is a state of chronic nervous system overactivation — too much beta (alert, stress) and too little alpha (calm). The Reticular Activating System (RAS), which controls the sleep-wake cycle, stays in "on" mode long past when it should begin downregulating.
In hyperaroused individuals, even the act of lying down in bed can trigger further arousal (conditioned arousal — another insomnia spiral). The result: tired body, active mind. Not laziness. Not a character flaw. Neurology that needs to be addressed at the neurological level.
The trial is published and freely accessible. Search PMC10307909 on PubMed, or visit: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PMC10307909. We encourage skeptics to read the full methodology and results — the trial was sham-controlled, peer-reviewed, and showed zero adverse events.
Regulatory
Evolv28 is not currently FDA Rx approved. It is wellness-cleared in four markets (US, EU, Canada, India), meaning it can be sold as a wellness device but cannot make specific medical treatment claims. We are pursuing the FDA De Novo / 510(k) Rx approval pathway, with approval targeted for end of 2027. The published RCT provides the core clinical evidence needed to support this pathway.
"Wellness cleared" means the device has passed safety and basic regulatory requirements to be sold in a market as a consumer wellness product — not as a prescription medical device. It can make general wellness claims (improving sleep quality, supporting relaxation) but cannot claim to "treat," "diagnose," or "cure" insomnia. Think of it like a supplement that has been reviewed for safety but not for a specific medical claim. The clinical evidence for efficacy exists in the published RCT — the regulatory path to medical claims is underway.
Evolv28 is wellness-cleared in the United States, European Union, Canada, and India. These four markets represent the primary commercial rollout. Additional markets will be added as the regulatory pathway expands alongside the FDA Rx approval process.
Practical
Enter your email at the bottom of the homepage. We'll send you one email when your device is ready — no spam, no nurture sequences. One email. That's the promise.
If you complete the full 28-day protocol — wearing Evolv28 4+ hours per day for 28 days — and don't see meaningful improvement in your sleep, return it for a full refund. We ask that you actually complete the protocol, not abandon it after a week. The science shows that meaningful results take time, and we stand behind that. No restocking fee. No hassle.
Evolv28 is not currently covered by insurance as it is a wellness device, not an Rx medical device. HSA/FSA eligibility depends on your plan administrator and the specific account type. Some plans cover wellness devices — check with your administrator. As we move through the FDA Rx pathway, insurance coverage becomes a realistic outcome in 2028+.
